HORROR FANS AND FILM-MAKERS CHELSEY BURDON AND MARK VESSEY HAVE SECURED THE ACTING TALENT OF CURSE OF CHUCKY STAR FIONA DOURIF TO TAKE THE LEAD IN THEIR FIRST COLLABORATIVE SHORT FILM THAT PROMISES TO SHOCK AND SCAR GENRE AUDIENCES. SHE has taken inspiration from the likes of Lars Von Trier's AntiChrist and Park Chan-Wook's
Lady Vengeance, fusing the varied interests of two impassioned film fans to create a thrilling
feminist shocker that is not for the faint hearted.
The duo are investing a lot of their own money into the project but will be launching a Kickstarter
campaign to raise the extra funds necessary to make this the best short film that it can be. With
aspirations of high production values, elaborate effects sequences and a bid to make it into as many film festivals as possible, they are calling on the horror community to come together and be a part of this exciting project.
SHE is about a young couple who have a loveless and dispassionate relationship; no
communication, affection or indication of attachment. Whatever spark they once had is
now long gone. We see them go through their daily routine, documenting how unhappy
SHE has become with her sheltered life and the selfish demands of her partner. We build up
to an anniversary dinner, when, deciding she has had enough of being down-trodden SHE
poisons HE's food with a substance that renders him physically paralysed. Finally regaining
some sense of control, she carries out an act of violent revenge that will leave just as many
scars on her as it does on him.
Mark Vessey (Co-writer & Co-director) primarily comes from a writing background, having written
countless short stories and film/music reviews over the years. His passion for cinema and vivid
imagination has inspired a move into film-making. In 2013 alone, he has written over 20 scripts (features and shorts) and taken on his first solo project: the upcoming satirical horror-comedy short: English Mary 3D which he directed, wrote, produced and starred in. The interest gathered from the aforementioned short has given him the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in modern horror. Chelsey Burdon (Co-writer, Co-director and Producer) has worked in film and theatre since graduating in 2009 taking on a range of roles from assistant director, co-producer and production management. She has worked on shorts, features and music videos and also writes for various film websites and magazines.
This will be Burdon's second short film as director, the first, Sweet 6teen, was selected to be part of the ShortCuts To Hell Anthology currently available for download on iTunes and was screened on The Horror Channel. An emerging genre director with experience in all aspects of the industry.
