Scene Of The Week

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

ARROW, "Crucible", October 20, 2013, Actors: Stephen Amell, Caity Lotz, Kevin Alejandro, ClBennett

The Scenes: Oliver convinces Sara to come home & Brother Blood reveal at the end

Justyna Kubica: There is quite a powerful connection between Oliver and Sara. A very sad understanding. And that's just one of the things that makes all of their scenes great. Hard to pick the best one. Especially considering what a good impression Black Canary/Sara Lance has made on me after this episode. She's already becoming one of the most interesting characters on the show. I'm really excited to see her interacting with the rest of the cast and it seems like the reunion between Sara and her family is just around the corner. I ended up picking the talk between her and Oliver as my favorite, because it's an emotional moment for both of them (which is quite rare if we're talking about tough heroes/fighters like these two) and gives the actors a great opportunity to shine. Whoever mentions so-called "wooden" acting here, I couldn't disagree more! They're absolutely brilliant in the scene (and the episode!). Also, what makes this scene special is just how much it means for the characters involved. Oliver convices Sarah to come back home, knowing how badly it's gonna end for him and his relations with Lance family (just when he was starting to "connect" to Quentin, in another great scene, by the way!) and Sara has to deal with her emotions in a big way, it's hard to imagine what it means for her to see the people she loves again after years, when she's a very different person and after all the things she's done. I also really enjoyed the way their talk was mixed with the look on the rest of the Lance family. I'm not enjoying Laurel's storyline at all, but the entire sequence (with her downfall and Quentin's monologue) here was beautifully done.

BRADLEY ADAMS: It is revealed that the man behind the mask is Sebastian Blood. Came as a huge shock to me.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, "Hothead", October 28, 2013, Actors: Kristin Kreuk, Jay Ryan

The Scene: Cat and Vincent at the 9/11 memorial

Lilith Hellfire: Cat and Vincent take a walk to the 9/11 Memorial to honor Vincent's brothers and make a resolution to not get lost in the past but hopefully learn from it and move forward together.

VIRGINIA FONTANA: Cat and Vincent at the 9/11 memorial. Beautifully filmed and acted.

BOARDWALK EMPIRE, "The Old Ship of Zion", October 27, 2013, Actors: Michael Kenneth Williams, Rik LaRay, The Scene: Chalky kills Purnsley

Darth Locke: Purnsley Dunn attempts to kill Chalky White, but Chalky kills Purnsley instead.

GRIMM, "PTZD", November 1, 2013, Actors: David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch and more

The Scene: The Grimm Gang takes down Zombie Nick

A Dahne: The Grimm Gang (Monroe, Hank, Rosalee, Renard, and Juliette) takes down Zombie Nick - I love when the team works together and this gave everyone their moment to shine as well as take one for the team. I liked this episode better than the premiere, partly for how cohesive they all were in trying to help Nick.

HOMELAND, "The Yoga Play", October 27, 2013, Actors: Claire Danes and more

The Scene: Carrie is taken

Sharon Seymour: Carrie is taken in the middle of the night, stripped searched and hooded.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES, "Big Brother", October 29, 2013, Actors: Chris O'Donnell, Daniela Ruah and more

The Scene: Kensi refuses to go undercover at the school

Bradley Adams: Kensi walks away from the school, refusing to go undercover and the team discuss who should replace her. That was brilliant.

ONCE UPON A TIME, "Good Form", October 27, 2013, Actors: Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parrilla and more

The Scenes: Snow and Charming reunite & Emma and Hook kiss & Regina takes the heart of the lost boy

Klutzy girl: Snow and Charming reunite and end up making out in front of everyone. I loved it, but Emma and Regina's reactions were hilarious.

VIRGINIA FONTANA: Emma and Hook kiss...hot! "A one time thing"? Somehow, I think not!

PABLOZKY21: Regina takes the heart of the lost boy: what's great about this scene is that they finally are touching some grey moral areas for Emma as she has to decide if they are going to do things "the good way" or "the bad way". There is no way to do it right or wrong actually, they have to get it done, and as she understands that and allows Regina to do it, the show feels a little bit mature, and it also feels like it is going in the right direction. Also, the follow up in which Regina points out that she is there to get her hands dirty for the group makes it feel like they are a real team, and that is something that the show was lacking a little bit and awesome to see.

PERSON OF INTEREST, "Mors Praematura", October 29, 2013, Actors: Amy Acker, Sarah Shahi, Jim Caviezel, The Scenes: Shaw fights and Root watchesit was poignant and honest moment that was amazingly acted by Emily Van Camp. It's one of those times we can see behind the cold mask that Emily Thorne is and see hurt little girl that it is Amanda Clarke. Just outstanding.

REVOLUTION, "Dead Man Walking", October 30, 2013, Actors: Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Elizabeth Mitchell, The Scenes: Rachel digs up Monroe & Charlie comforts Miles in the bar

Jamie Coudeville: I knew it. The minute I saw that it was her who prepared the needle, I knew she did something. Can't wait to see everyone's face when they find out.

KLUTZY GIRL: Charlie comforts Miles in the bar in the wake of Bass' "death". I loved that she squeezed his hand when he was crying - It was cute.

DARTH LOCKE: Rachel digs up Monroe. I love this scene for so many reasons, one of which is the now obvious: 'Rachel cares about Monroe after all' (Maybe even more than Miles) and also this might be sign that Miles may not turn out to be Charlie's father after all?! Additionally the idea with injecting him with something to make Monroe appear dead is very similar to what happened to what Jack Bristow did to Arvin Sloane ("Hourglass"), which is interesting since Sloane and Alias was also referenced on Person of Interest this week!

SCANDAL, "More Cattle, Less Bull", October 31, 2013, Actors: Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn

The Scene: Fitz calls Olivia

Tessa Marlene: When it almost looked like the relationship that drew so many to the show was broken, the phone lost in the trashcan starts ringing. Kerry Washington delivers a stunning performance as a proud woman who internally struggles with the pain of waiting for 'the' phonecall. How many of us have been there, staring at that phone? How similar was our reaction to Olivia's? It was such a beautifully acted, close-to-home scene.

THE CRAZY ONES, "Hugging the Now", October 31, 2013, Actors: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Landes

The Scene: Sydney argues with her boyfriend (Bones reference)

Klutzy Girl: Sydney is angry her boyfriend screwed over Simon and asks if their Bones marathon was a lie and if he even likes David Boreanaz. That moment was hilarious and one of my favorite things that happened this week.

THE MENTALIST, "The Red Tattoo", October 27, 2013, Actors: Simon Baker, Robin Tunney, Beth Riesgraf and more, The Scene: Kira Tinsley's death

Justyna Kubica: I can't really call this scene my favorite, but it's definitely the most intense thing I've seen on TV this week. The entire sequence, where Jane and Lisbon rush to save the poor girl from Red John, the rest of the team is forced to hear her struggling to survive and we, the viewers, actually have to watch her last moments, it was absolutely breathtaking. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! I knew there wasn't much hope, but still, for a moment, I believed they may just save at least one of the victims of this monster. But they were too late to do that. This brave girl (played by the brilliant Parker Beth Riesgraf, who made this scene even more heartbreaking), however, managed to hold on long enough to reveal something important about the identity of her attacker to Patrick, with her last dying breath. I really hope this clue turns out to be the missing link to the killer we were waiting for. So this brutal death we witnessed wasn't just another one on the growing list of Red John's victims.

THE ORIGINALS, "Sinners and Saints", October 29, 2013, Actors: Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Danielle Campbell and more

The Scenes: Elijah comes back home & Marcel saves Davina from being sacrificed

Jamie Coudeville: Elijah and Rebekah's reunion - I need more scenes with them, the hug was so cute.

VIRGINIA FONTANA: Marcel saves Davina from being sacrificed by the witches. Finally, an explanation for why these two are so connected. It says a lot about Marcel that he feels so strongly about protecting children (though he obviously had other motives), and even though the teen girls were supposedly going to be resurrected, it was horrifying to see them killed like that. So when he swept in to stop the Harvest, it was a big relief.

TESSA MARLENE: Elijah comes back to the family. It was such a beautiful reunion. From Rebekah's enthusiastic hug, to Hayley's under-the-lashes shy look, to Klaus's veiled happiness and jealousy, it all seemed perfect. Elijah is such a great character, so kind hearted and regal that it's a pleasure to see other characters appreciate and love him. It reflects how a large portion of the audience feels about him.

THE TOMORROW PEOPLE, "Kill or Be Killed", October 30, 2013, Actors: Luke Mitchell, Jason Dohring

The Scene: John kills Killian

Bradley Adams: Interesting to see that he has that power too.

A DAHNE: This was my favorite episode so far because of the John back story and Dohring guest starring. This scene was the cumulation of the rivalry bewteen Killian and John and the second most shocking thing I saw this week. Just when you think John is going to need help getting out, he reveals that he was experimented on as well. It was a great character moment that should have far-reaching effects in the show.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, "Monster's Ball", October 31, 2013, Actors: Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and more, The Scene: Damon feeds Katherine to Silas

Jamie Coudeville: Talk about poetic justice. I love Katherine, but she kind of deserved it. For a minute there I thought they'd actually killed her, but luckily she survived.

THE WALKING DEAD, "Isolation", October 27, 2013, Actors: Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Chad Coleman

The Scene: Daryl, Michonne and Tyreese escape from the car

Sharon Seymour: Daryl, Michonne and Tyrese escape from the car after being surrounded by Zombies!

WHITE COLLAR, "One Last Stakeout", October 31, 2013, Actors: Matt Bomer, Bridget Regan, Warren Kole and more, The Scene: Neal flirts his way into a museum & Agent Siegel dies

Tessa Marlene: I absolutely loved how Neal interacted with Rebecca and how smitten she was with him. If anyone underestimated Matt Bomer's ability to charm the ladies, and his acting prowess, last week's episode should put all doubts to rest. He can make you lose your breath just by putting his arm around you, and then he'll steal your key card and cost you your job. But how many ladies mind losing a shelving job at a museum if it means they get to be Neal Caffery's next love interest.

A DAHNE: Hands down, the most shocking scene of the week. We just got to meet Siegel and I started to like him. Next thing, he's dead on the street after seeing Neal and Hagen meet. I never expected it and I can't wait to see what is going to happen in the aftermath. Bye Siegel. You were a great character while you lasted.

JUSTYNA KUBICA: This is, without a doubt, the most shocking thing I've seen this week! I really had no idea. I actually liked Siegel, even started to think how he could eventually join the team. Officially. He seemed like a good guy and I didn't really mind seeing him with Neal and taking Peter's place, like I expected. He shared his past this week with Caffrey and I was wondering what was it he wanted to ask him. Even when he saw Neal with Hagen... I mean, he had such a great potential! This last scene took me by surprise, which actually made me feel quite emotional. I still can't believe it. Also, poor Neal. I think the guilt waiting for him in the next episodes is gonna be especially hard to deal with.
