'Nikita' season 4, episode 3 preview: Is Alex in trouble with the CIA?

Stop and think about this for a second: There are only four more episodes left of "." That is not a lot of time to tie up some of the remaining loose ends, and so the assumption has to be made that things are really going to get crazy from here on out.

But following an episode that at first made it look like Michael was shooting Nikita, can things get any crazier? "Set-Up" is certainly going to try. You have international relations involved, Nikita having to deal with the ramifications of others' actions, and Alex facing a pretty horrible situation courtesy of the CIA. (Let's just hope for her sake that Saul Berenson isn't on this team.) The title clearly is referring to what Amanda is up to, at least based on the episode's full synopsis:

"TENSIONS CONTINUE TO ESCALATE BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND PAKISTAN AFTER AMANDA (MELINDA CLARKE) PLANTS EVIDENCE THAT PAKISTAN HIRED NIKITA (MAGGIE Q) TO KILL THE PRESIDENT. RYAN (NOAH BEAN) BECOMES SUSPICIOUS OF BIRKHOFF'S INCREASINGLY ODD BEHAVIOR AND TELLS NIKITA AND MICHAEL THAT HE THINKS AMANDA MAY HAVE KIDNAPPED BIRKHOFF AND PLANTED A DOUBLE ON THE PLANE. MEANWHILE, THE CIA CAPTURES ALEX (LYNDSY FONSECA) AND QUESTIONS HER ABOUT HER INVOLVEMENT WITH NIKITA."

All in all, you should expect as much action as The CW can allow for in its budget, and for the pacing to be almost relentless here the rest of the way. As for the status of Michael and Nikita, the show's not going to go the final four episodes with addressing that at every turn, right? We would be hard-pressed to imagine a scenario where the producers would suddenly ignore one of the biggest fan demands out there.
