KUCHING: PBB Pantai Damai branch will intensify efforts to recruit more members, especially among youths.

Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said PBB Pantai Damai now had 13,704 members.

"We want to register more members soon," he said at the Leadership Award and Thanksgiving Dinner for PBB Pantai Damai on Friday.

Dr Abdul Rahman said the branch's achievements over the years were due to having quality leaders.

"Based on the 2006 state election, BN won with a majority of 2,164 votes, and it increased to 5,071 in the 2011 polls."

"In the general election this year, Pantai Damai contributed 15,000 votes, which helped to ensure BN (Barisan Nasional) retain Santubong parliamentary constituency."

Dr Abdul Rahman said efforts must be made to preserve this good track record.

On a related matter, he advised PBB members not to be active only when an election is around the corner.

Also present were Pantai Damai PBB branch deputy chief Drahman Jaladin, Youth chief Merdehi Mas and Wanita chief Jamaiyah Sulaiman.
