Guide to Studios

NAME: Hal Film Maker

FOUNDED IN: 1993

MOST WELL RECEIVED: Aria, PrincessTutu, Skip Beat!,

MOST POPULAR WORKS: B Gata H Kei, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, Princess Tutu, Skip Beat!

OTHER RECOGNIZABLE WORKS: Good Witch of the West, Pretear, Sketchbook ~full colors~, Tamayura (Hitotose), Uta Kata

KNOWN FOR: lackluster animation, magical girl and slice of life

OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS: The two genres that Hal Film Maker animates the most are slice of life (Aria, Skip Beat!, Tamayura) and magical girls (Pretear, Princess Tutu, Uta Kata). The well known director Satou Junichi, who is known for directing relaxing slice of life stuff has been in charge of many of Hal Film Maker's works. Hal Film Maker doesn't animate much, only producing one or two shows a year if that much.

SUBJECTIVE ANALYSIS: Of all the stuff of Hal Film Maker's I've seen, the only two I like are Princess Tutu and the under-watched Sketchbook. Everything else I find to be average at best, or just annoying. Dokuro-chan is one of the worst things I've ever seen. If I had more time I'd like to check out a few of their other shows to see if I find anything else of theirs that I like, but chances of that are low.
