Watamote

"Watashi ga motenai no wa dou kangaetemo omaera ga warui!" aka Watamote was my favourite anime of the last season: the foul-mouthed, socially-awkward, under/over-sexed Kuroki Tomoko stumbles into successively more painful and cringeworthy situations, due to her own character flaws. I love this stuff.

There are lots of manga references, game metaphors, and jokes that make you disgusted with yet also sympathetic to Tomoko. It's best when the awkward humour reminds you of a painful social faux pas of your youth. I hear those kind of wounds are as excruciating as the physical but don't fade the same way.

Watamote changes out the ED quite often, and has some imaginative transitions given its low budget. The female social outcast experience has had less exploration, so it's fresh despite many years worth of "NHK ni Youkoso" and "Densha Otoko" works, and obligatory kimoi otaku background characters. I would love a second season, but for now I suppose it's just the manga.
