Celebrate The Dog Days Of Summer

The special relationship between human and dog is one that can be traced back to the gray wolf. Attracted to the smells from human campfires, they are the common ancestors of a litany of dogs in different shapes and sizes. This summer why don't you treat your favourite pooch to a refreshing swim at an all-dog pool party?

Take a break from the summer heat and swim with man's best friend at CLEVELAND METROPARKS ANNUAL DOG PADDLE & PET-A-PALOOZA on Sunday, August 25 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Ledge Pool & Recreation Area in Hinckley Reservation in Hinckley Township.

Bring your non-aggressive dogs, big aDog Paddlend small, to cool off with a dip in Ledge Pool for a nominal donation ($5/per dog), with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

After a nice swim, dry off and take a stroll through the dog fair, featuring exhibitors and vendors with items to pamper pets, dog groomers, a dog adoption area and more. Also, take your pal on a guided dog hike led by a Cleveland Metroparks naturalist.

Enjoy animal safety demonstrations by Buckeye Area Regional K-9 (B.A.R.K) and dock jumping with Buckeye DockDogs. See these aerial pooches give a demonstration for the best techniques for success in Big Air dock jumping. Dogs and owners have the opportunity to learn more about Buckeye DockDogs and how to get their dog involved in the competitive sport of dock jumping.

Doggie and human snacks and refreshments will be for sale.

Ledge Pool & Recreation Area is located at 1151 Ledge Road, between State and Kellogg roads in Hinckley Reservation in Hinckley Township.
