Anime: Little Witch Academia

Little Witch Academia is probably the success story of the young animator training project, having secured a sequel with the help of kickstarter. It goes to show how popular anime is as well as the different ways anime can now be funded. Maybe it even marks a new era for the flagging industry.

Seriously though, little witch academia is a good show worthy of a sequel. But the same can be said for a lot of the other projects in past years. But it comes at a good time. Magic is still a big thing after Harry Potter, the magical girl genre hasn't seen anything amazing recently, so this fills a gap in anime. It's produced well, the story is intriguing and exciting, the characters are lovable and quirky. It has many things working for it, but nothing unique and mind-blowing.

Having grown up on the magical girl genre, watching amazing series like Akazukin Cha Cha and Cardcaptor Sakura and many others, little witch academia is nothing new. It does however have all the things that make the genre so enjoyable. I guess that's enough. I'm looking forward to the sequel to see how the story progresses and pronouncing judgement on the show.
