Casting Couch: Ad-Rock May Work With Baumbach, Kevin Costner is Thinking About Smuggling Drugs, and More

What is Casting Couch? It's a daily news column that compiles the biggest casting scoops from all around the Internet. Today's edition is absolutely bursting with news, so let's jump right in.

Due to his being a member of The Beastie Boys, ADAM "AD-ROCK" HOROVITZ is a legend in the rap game. Many don't know that he has a little bit of a history in the acting world though. Of course, many don't know that because his career consisted of a couple small roles in the late 80s and early 90s, and then he seemed to forget about his little hobby. has a report that Horovitz might soon be making a big acting comeback though, because apparently he's in talks to join BEN STILLER and NAOMI WATTS in NOAH BAUMBACH's (Frances Ha) next film, WHILE WE'RE YOUNG. In it Horovitz would be playing a new father who can no longer relate to Stiller and Watts' characters because they don't have kids, which is pretty much the most frightening notion ever for those of us who remember Ad-Rock as being a beer-swilling teenager on MTV's spring break.

Kevin Costner

Over the past year or so KEVIN COSTNER has gone from being "that guy who used to make movies in the 80s and early 90s," to "that guy who keeps getting cast in new movies." And the career resurgence doesn't look like it's going to stop trucking any time soon, because has a report that he's now looking to star in yet another movie, this time for producer GUILLERMO DEL TORO. The film is called MIDNIGHT DELIVERY, and it would see Costner starring as a man who traffics cocaine into London in an attempt to appease a Colombian drug lord who has his daughter in his clutches. Less badass than Liam Neeson in Taken, sure, but that's still a pretty hardcore dad.

Dustin Hoffman

Out of all the upcoming movies about out of work chefs who get their lives back on track by opening up a food truck, JON FAVREAU's CHEF may be the most promising. That's because his cast already included ROBERT DOWNEY JR., SOFIA VERGARA, JOHN LEGUIZAMO, SCARLETT JOHANSSON, and BOBBY CANNAVALE, and now a from the writer/director/star has announced that DUSTIN HOFFMAN is on board as well. Seeing as the announcement came in the form of a six second Vine video, there's no indication of what role he's going to be playing, but who the heck cares? It's Dustin freaking Hoffman.

Jessica Chastain

Speaking of casting news that doesn't come with very much additional info, is reporting that JESSICA CHASTAIN is currently negotiating to join JAVIER BARDEM in the cast of director JC CHANDOR's (Margin Call) next film, A MOST VIOLENT YEAR. Seeing as nobody knows anything about this movie other than its title, its director, and the fact that it's going to star Bardem, there's no telling what she's actually negotiating to do though. Let's just pretend that this is going to be a movie about Amish Rumspringa wherein Chastain will play a young girl who uses her year away from the faith to become a cage fighter, and Bardem is playing a legendary jiu-jitsu master who becomes her corner man. That sounds like fun.

Ellen Burstyn

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN's upcoming big, vague, sci-fi epic, INTERSTELLAR, just added a couple more names to its already impressive cast. is reporting that screen legend ELLEN BURSTYN and Twilight vet MACKENZIE FOY are now on board the film, which has something to do with wormholes and other dimensions and whatnot. They join a list of actors that already includes names like MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY, ANNE HATHAWAY, JESSICA CHASTAIN, CASEY AFFLECK, and MICHAEL CAINE, which means that we might finally get to see that Burstyn/McConaughey make out session everyone's been wanting for years.

Robert Englund

Horror fans should be happy to hear that A Nightmare on Elm Street star ROBERT ENGLUND has another film coming up. According to , he's going to be joining the cast of a psychological horror called THE LAST SHOWING that's just starting up shooting in the northwest of England. That's not even the best part though, the best part is that he's going to be playing a former projectionist who's bitter that he's had his job made obsolete by digital technology, so he takes his frustrations out on a group of kids who show up at his old theater to watch a digitally projected midnight horror movie. This thing sounds like it's basically tailor made for movie geeks. Hopefully it's bloody.

Emmy Rossum

SHAWN CHRISTENSEN won a Best Live Action Short Academy Award for a little film he directed called CURFEW, which was about a lowlife who gets asked by his sister to babysit his 11-year-old-niece, and now he's all set to make his feature debut as a director with a film that's loosely based on the same concept. The casting news here comes from Deadline, who reports that he's just hired Shameless star EMMY ROSSUM, The Vampire Diaries' PAUL WESLEY, and Hellboy himself, RON PERLMAN, to make up the core of his performers. Young actress FATIMA PTACEK played the niece in the short, and will once again reprise her role here.

Margot Robbie

What does it take to get cast as a female lead opposite a star as huge as WILL SMITH? Being stunningly attractive must not hurt, because is reporting that MARGOT ROBBIE, the stunningly attractive actress who will soon appear in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, has just been cast as the female lead of GLENN FICARRA and JOHN REQUA's (Crazy, Stupid, Love) upcoming Smith starring vehicle, FOCUS. In it she'll be playing an inexperienced con woman who teams up with Smith's experienced con man in order to get all trained up, and then one has to imagine that love blossoms between them or something.

This is the same movie that was once going to star Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and then maybe Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart, but then ended up starring these two instead. Probably we can call this one a downgrade from the Gosling/Stone pairing, but a definite upgrade from the Affleck/Stewart one, so in the end things didn't work out too bad.
