The Vampire Diaries always gives unexpected twists and turns to any given story arc, and next week's episode is one example. Just when we thought Stefan (Paul Wesley) is gone forever, it looks like he's trying to find his way back -- more specifically into Elena's (Nina Dobrev) arms. This may not be the old Stefan, but it's Stefan, nonetheless. He appears to have a case of amnesia, asking Elena: "How do I not remember you?"
It's been hinted that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena will have their fun love affair at the start of the season, but won't last for long. Well, it's only been three episodes and things are progressing pretty fast. During the ATX TV Festival in Austin, executive producer Julie Plec said Damon and Elena "will try to make it work", but their new found happiness will be cut short by an unexpected villain.
In a preview for the upcoming episode, 'For Whom the Bell Tolls', Delena is under old flame threat via Stefan as the original couple shares an intimate moment that just might change everything for Damon -- yet again. A voice over says "Destiny has been trying to bring the dopplegangers together forever." So the universe is apparently responsible for the renewed Stefan-Elena romance.
Then -- Damon is livid about something Jeremy says. He also crashes the car he is driving with Stefan in another scene. The video warns that someone will get burned -- whether literally or figuratively remains to be seen.
Check out the video and more details in the synopsis below:
While Mystic Falls observes its traditional Remembrance Day to honor the dead, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) try to help Stefan (Paul Wesley) through a confusing time, a task that ends up taking Elena on an emotional journey of her own. A worried Matt (Zach Roerig) tries to figure out the reason behind his mysterious blackouts, and Caroline (Candice Accola) makes an effort to get to know Jesse (guest star Kendrick Sampson) better. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) makes a startling confession that hits Damon hard. Finally, Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett) puts a plan in motion that will change everything.
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c on the CW.
