Increasing Awareness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

DId you know that 22 American soldiers a day - 8,000 a year - are killing themselves? And that another 45 a day - over 16,000 a year - attempt suicide? Approximately 500,000 of the 2.5 million soldiers who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain Injury, and they are not receiving the care they need and deserve as American Veterans.

As a survivor of my father's suicide, I understand the despair that causes our soldiers to want to end their lives, and I know first-hand what it's like for their families to pick up the pieces after such a devastating loss. My brother-in-law's uncle, Brian Krinbring, recognized the gap between the needs of our veterans and the services available to them, and decided to do something about it.

Brian and his songwriting partner, Mark Elder, wrote Wounds That Don't Bleed to raise awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and to solicit support for organizations helping military service people and their families deal with the effects of this truly life-threatening condition. Please watch the video at the top of this post and then visit Brian and Mark's to see how you can support their efforts. If you feel led, please share the website on your blog, Facebook page, and social media sites.
