There are both Atlantic fish farming salmon and Baltic salmon in Danish waters, but it is only the Atlantic salmon caught fish farming in Danish waters. The Atlantic salmon travel thousands of miles from their spawning grounds in the river todepladserne in the North Atlantic, and is entirely dependent on free passage.


Storlaksene of 9-25 kg and mellemlaksene of 5-9 kg are the first to show up in the stream. The smaller salmon fry 1-4 kg will come later from July to September. Spawning takes place in November until January of the larger streams.
